In the grand scheme of historian specialties I would describe my interests as being related to paranormal history and medieval magic; or what I could also describe as a paranormal historian. To expand upon this point, it means that I study the history of ghost stories, folklore, and the ideas of magic throughout history; and how the idea of ghosts and the supernatural plays into society, religion, and literature. This timeline spans from the Ancient World to the Victorian Era, though my primary focus is during the Middle Ages. I have published several books and articles on American and European folklore and ghost stories; and I am preparing to publish my first history book, An Immaterial Witness: The Use of Spectral Evidence in European and American Court Cases (Fall: 2018). As for my background, I have a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Chowan College and a M.A. in Early European History. In 2015, I began constructing an online museum dedicated to Victorian Spiritualism and the Gothic Arts; and named it “A Victorian Ghost Story: Virtual Museum.”
